Forever in Our Hearts

Linda Louise Simmons, age 77 years, passed peacefully in her home, January. 23, 2022 surrounded by loving family.

Linda has been fragile since birth. She endured much pain and suffering throughout her life with a humble, joyful, and grateful attitude. She not only believed in miracles, she was a walking miracle! She was like a happy, bubbly girl playing house, and lived a life dedicated to using her gifts and talents to the best of her ability, as her mother always taught her that her life was preserved for a reason! Her love for gardening and making healthy gourmet meals was enjoyed by many. And she was a project person! She enjoyed making beautiful flower arrangements, refinishing furniture, frames and other décor, doing weddings, and more. Linda loved people and cared to give, teach, and inspire at any opportunity. She shined so bright and was an example of someone living in joy because of the service she gave. Despite her physical pain, she has been an inspiration to many throughout her life.

Linda was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings including three Inner City Missions over 13 years. This month, 15 years ago, she founded Hearts Knit Together which came from her inspiration several years prior when she was inspired to create a way for the widows she served to reach more people in need. Hearts is now a huge non-profit charity serving battered women and children, victims of domestic violence, and refugees from war-torn countries. To date over 50,000 comfort kits have been given resulting in countless lives touched.

She is the beloved wife of Boyd Simmons, deceased; and cherished mother of Erika Ruth Ozosky, David Sean Merkley, Michael Ross Clements, and April LaVonne James (Phil), and honored stepmother of Tonna Marie Susaeta, Jeanna Lee Underwood (Darrell), Boyd Martin (Mart) Simmons Jr., Todd Matthew Simmons, Chad Horton Simmons (Shelli), and Shane Criston Simmons.

She leaves a growing posterity of 30 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Albiston and Mildred Madge Albiston, one brother, Brian Albiston, and her beloved husband, Boyd Martin Simmons.
