Just a thought as I was reading the first few articles of the March Ensign today....a quote from Jeffrey R. Holland's talk in the last general conference called "Are We Not All Beggars". "A journalist once questioned Mother Teresa of Calcutta about her hopeless task of rescuing the destitute in that city. He said that, statistically speaking, she was accomplishing absolutely nothing. This remarkable little woman retorted that her work was about love, not statistics....she said she could keep the commandment to love God and neighbor by serving those within her reach with whatever resources she had......Soberly, the journalist concluded that Christianity is obviously not a statistical endeavor.
During these last few months, I have felt limited in what I can do because of some physical challenges, but I have felt "Encircled in His Gentle Arms" as mentioned in President Uctdorf's opening article. His enabling power has moved this project forward, in spite of my personal limitations, and many wonderful volunteers and others in the community are making miracles happen!
I have had a principle validated through this experience that when our hearts are willing to serve to the best of our capacity, the Lord will aid us both personally and through the help of so many others who serve those "within their reach". Thank you to all the willing hearts who are making a difference in the lives of so many who are suffering. I am so grateful for you!!!
