Domestic Violence Shelter Kits

Hearts Knit Together donates to all 16 Domestic Violence Shelters in the state of Utah. Families come into the shelters, sometimes in the middle of the night, with only the clothes on their back.  When they check into the shelter, there is a kit placed on the mother's bed, and the beds of each of their children. The women's kits contain the basic hygiene in regular size bottles, towels, a journal, hat and scarf and miscellaneous hygiene items. The children's kits are lovingly prepared, containing age and gender appropriate items including: hygiene, towel, wash cloth, an item of clothing, doll, puzzle, books, and toy. All of these kits are theme and color inspired to make them even more special to the recipients. We often hear from the shelter workers that the children come running up to them saying: "Is this for me?" The kits offer a feeling of safety during a turbulent time. The buttons below will link you to forms that will help you prepare for a successful Day of Service by helping us with the Domestic Violence Shelter Kits.
  • Monetary Donations: Of course, we also take monetary donations. For LDS church members, you need to get approval from your Bishop or Stake President to use the other donation space on the Tithing receipt and ask those who will be donating money to use their Tithing receipt for those funds.
Thank you. Your donations will enable our trained volunteers to compile the kits in our project room to help these families in crisis.  Please download all of these items to help you prepare your Day of Service Project.
